| The venues that they played at were nearly always chock-a-block, and there were people who could not get tickets waiting outside the venues they played at, and that included a weekend engagement supporting the master craftsman: Bruce Springsteen. They had become so popular on the American circuits that the demand for Bob Marley and The Wailers band was regarded as a a new phenomenon. 17 further dates were organised as supporting group to Sly & The Family Stone. Bob Marley and the Wailers proved themselves too good as supporting group that they were only able do four performances on stage: They were inadvertently removed from the show. Sly & The Family Stone was the top Black American band in music at the time in the USA. There was no doubt that Bob Marley and the Wailers had out performed Sly & The Family Stone that had signalled the crowd distraction away from the main attraction towards Bob Marley and The Wailers. In saying that, Bob Marley and The Wailers had literally out gunned Sly & The Family Stone on stage in their own land backyard was an understatement! They literally executed and slaughtered Sly and The Family Stone on stage. Bob and The Wailers, however, was not overly, concerned at the outcome of that show as they made their way to that famous American city: San Francisco. The group had arranged to do a live broadcast concert for the charismatic revolutionary rock station, KSAN. The result of that session was to bring about an album from that broadcast, when that recording made available the dates was organised for Bob Marley and The Wailers to appear on the same stage as Sly & The Family Stone in a supporting role. |
