The most common
dodge is to credit a covered song as ‘adapted’ to
avoid paying copyright fees, and conflicting accounts
of who recorded what, where, with and for whom.
Therefore, the market is flooded with dubious quality
recordings claiming to be by Perry. The absurd History,
Mystery, Prophecy album was recorded and released
in 1983 on Island, but the Upsetter's already rickety
affiliation with the label collapsed when he swore
blind that Chris Blackwell of Innovative Adventures
was the caused of Bob Marley's death. 1984, Perry
met Neil Fraser, whose non de plume is the Mad Professor,
who together developed lengthy alliance with the
producer that continues until present day. Working
with London studio bands, Perry began performing
live, and teaming up with a combo led to the recordings
of the 1986 album Battle Of Armageddon and Millionaire
Liquidator.
This album
is full of undercurrents and surprises, sounded
like the reality of a Perry circumstance. Now after
years of perplexities, the Upsetter is ready to
upset. Residing in the Netherlands during the 1980s,
he returned to London to sporadically do live performances.
Bought a in Switzerland in the 90's, has a new admin
team, married a Swiss Millionairess and has two
children from that marriage. Visited Jamaica on
several occasions to rebuild his burnt out Black
Ark Studio. Lee Perry emphasised: "My music comes
from the inside and, it's magic. I hear the music
in my head and create images with sounds and power.
Music goes into your brain takes over your body
and controls you. Well Lee Perry is not the only
person who experience the power of music, we are
all aware of how potent music melodies can be on
the soul, music convulsed the inner depths of your
whole being.
