Gun Slinger: Ivanhoe Rhygin!

The Harder They Come is a movie that was released in 1973. The film was the  production of  by Perry Henzell's with  singer/actor Jimmy Cliff playing the leading character with Prince Buster as a young up and coming dj. The film was based off a Jamaican public enemy number one who was loved by the the poor and hated by the wealthy. His name was Ivanhoe Rhygin was liken to Robin Hood. Ivanhoe would rob the rich and give the down and out in the ghetto. Ivanhoe Rhygin n his time was the baddest Jamaican rude boy of all in the 1950s. He was known all over the island of Jamaica as the two-gun slinger. Rhygin was wanted by the law, but they could not catch him.

  

The people he helped would hide him away from the Jamaican police and soldiers. Rhygin also had the speed of an Olympic sprinter with jumping skills that enabled him to scale over high fences. There were two bad rude boys of the 1940 era in Jamaica. First Ivanhoe Rhygin and then later on a Rastafarian by the name of Wappi King, but two gun slinger kid, Rhygin was the baddest. Ivanhoe Rhygin was a fearless showboat type of bad boy, whenever he committed a crime like robbing someone he would send photographs of himself with hand on his six shooters to local Jamaican Daily Gleaner newspaper. Eventually, the two gun kid got mow down by both the police and soldiers. 

 

Ivanhoe Rhygin tried to jump ship to the island of Cuba. Rhygin had a friend who was a cabin boy on a ship to Cuba. The idea was that Rhygin was to jump in the sea as the ship was moving off and the cabin boy would throw a rope over the side of the ship, but two gun Rhygin fell short of the rope and had to swim across to Cayman Island. The police and solders was tipped of that Rhygin was hiding on the island. Rhygin's life ended in a blaze of glory in a shoot out with the police and soldiers in which the two gun slinger, Ivanhoe Rhygin's body was obliterated with bullet holes.
