He created constructed, and improved the efficiency of an old weaving machine which was the first of a long progression of innovations and inventions. Here I am not concentrating on his many inventions but to put to mind of the man who develop and created as regards to the recording manufacture industry, as we know it today. So very little has been written about Emil Berliner's achievements and contributions. Yes, truly you could say that Emil Berliner is the unsung hero of the decade, a missing link in the annals of history. Emil Berliner immigrated to the United States in 1870 and in the year 1877, he set about developing a transmitter employing a variable contact of metals and, during his experiments Berliner discovered a contraption that could operate as a superior telephone receiver. Emile Berliner was still not satisfied with his new found discovery of advancing the telephone system. In the year 1887, Emil Berliner decided to concentrate on improving the Phonograph to which he made another prime contribution of importance that lead to the flat phonographic recording disc as we know it today, of course he was not aware of the vinyl material but his flat disc brought about the advent of the vinyl recording flat disc which is based off Emile Berliner's idea. He discovered the the stylus could moved horizontally, and would differs from the cylindral type hill and dale movement. Emile Berliner's phonograph stylus would operate virtually thus, reducing the distortions caused by gravity on the Thomas Edison's phonograph recording stylus. After achieving the inventory of the flat disc, Emil Berliner went on to invent and developed a method for the manufacturing the flat discs. An idea that would act as master replicating machine that would mass produce the flat discs. |
