Tips On Record Care 9 - 12

9. The grooves of a vinyl record are exposed and vulnerable at the mercy of environmental effects such as fingerprints, dust grit, spilled coffee, smoke, grease, beer and soft drinks splash along with worn stylus needles!

10. Worn styluses are the vinyl record's worst enemy; you can wipe away the grime, the spilled coffee, the soft drinks, the milk based drinks, spirits or beer, but you will not be able to wipe away the damage a worn stylus can cause!

11. At all cost never eat food while you are playing your vinyl records, and clean you're your hands every time before handling vinyl discs. Careless handling is the usual cause of dirt on vinyl records and once they become smeared, or dusty their sound reproduction becomes impaired!

12. At no time should you indulge in bad practices like pulling a vinyl record out of its sleeve. The friction caused by pulling the vinyl out of the sleeve will charge it with magnetic electrostatic which attracts dust. Hold apart the sides of the sleeves and pull out the vinyl record carefully by the rim, do not let your fingers touch the grooves, do not leave your vinyl records lying about uncovered; they most certainly will attract lots of dust!
